06/14/2017 - Annual Golf Tournament

We are holding our annual golf tournament again! This year it will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 7am at Province Lake golf Course in Parsonsfield Maine.

The price per player is the same as last year - $120 - which covers your round of golf, cart, welcome gift, prizes, and post-event cookout.  As usual, there will be a few new “surprises” this year to keep things interesting.  I won’t give them away, but I’d suggest bringing an extra $5-10 if you’d like to participate in some golfing tomfoolery!  There will surely be lots of laughs and stories to share after the round this year!

Rules:  Scramble Format (“Best Ball”)

·        Each player tees off on his own (tee boxes will be announced at the start of the round).

·        The team selects one player’s drive and every member from the team hits the next shot from that spot (other balls are picked up).

·        Play continues this way, with the entire team hitting from the same location (last best shot) until the ball is holed.

·        Each team must select at least 2 drives from each member of the team during the round.

·        You may improve your lie by 1 club length for any shot except when on the green or fringe.

·        Once on the green, the best ball should always be marked and each player must putt from the marked spot until the ball is holed.

·        One score should be kept for each team – how many “best shots” it takes to hole the ball.

·        The tournament is meant to move quickly – don’t spend too much time looking for balls.  Speed of play should be no more than 15 minutes per hole.

·        The tournament will feature long drive contest for men, women and seniors as well as a closest to the pin contest.

·        Most important - HAVE FUN!

As usual we will provide fun prizes for the team with the best score as well as the best co-ed team.  A change for 2017 – to qualify to be the co-ed winning team, you must have at least two female players on your team.

There will be a cookout at the Oreto’s immediately following the tournament.

The fine print:

Province Lake Alcohol Policy: Alcohol consumed on the golf course when playing golf at Province Lake must be purchased from the beverage cart which will be running from 9:30am-2pm.  This is State Law.  No alcohol is to be brought to the club or onto the course by golfers or others, nor should alcohol purchased inside be brought out onto the golf course.  Province Lake Golf discourages beverage of any kind on the course and reserves the right to inspect coolers and golf bags at any time.  Violators will be asked to leave immediately, without refund and are subject to a $1,500 state imposed fine.  Alcoholic beverages may be purchased from the beverage cart, one beverage at a time per golfer.  No open beverage containers containing alcohol are permitted while crossing Mountain Road or Route 153 (Province Lake Road).  Please use the available trash receptacles or the basket in your golf cart to properly dispose of such containers before you cross any roads, as required by law.

06/14/2017 - 50/50 Raffle Time!

We are holding our annual 50/50 CASH RAFFLE to raise money to fight milfoil.  All of the money raised from the raffle will be used to keep the courtesy boat inspection, benthic barrier and suction harvester programs running.

Only 500 numbered tickets will be sold for this raffle at $20 per ticket.  The drawing will be held at the LACC Annual Meeting scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2016 at :00 am at the Lake Arrowhead Community, Clubhouse 2 located at 206 Old Portland Road, North Waterboro, Maine.

The prizes will be as follows:  1st Prize – 30% of total ticket sales

2nd  Prize – 15% of total ticket sales

3rd Prize – 5% of total ticket sales

50% of the total ticket sales minus expenses will go to LACC for its charitable purposes.

In order to sell all 500 tickets, we are asking all LACC members to purchase or sell at least 5 raffle tickets so that we can reach our goal.  As you know, we lost our yard sale fundraiser this year, and we will be incurring extra costs to run the DASH due to the recent involvement of OSHA.  This is an easy way for everyone to help out.  Memorial Day is next week and we all see family and friends.  Now is the time to sell raffle tickets. So, please get your tickets today !!

If you are interested in purchasing tickets, please contact Tracie Doyle at attytraciedoyle@comcast.net.  Tickets will also be available at the Lake Arrowhead Office starting Friday, May 27th.  Please note that the office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 4:00pm.
